    1) J’ai appris qu’une grande quantité d’or est (or “était” instead of “est” depending on the situation) utilisée à paris
Agie’s translation would mean that a lot of gold HAVE BEEN used in paris. So, it’s not correct.

    2) pour notre architecture, nous avons pris certaines idées à la France (à l’architecture francaise)
Agie’s translation is quite good too. Yeah, take her’s for this sentence.

    3) L’Egypte a offert un monument en cadeau à la France
really, it’s only a variation. Agie’s translation is good there too. I’d still recomend mine, here, though.

    4) In this sentence, “bullet train” has to be translated using our own brand of bullet train, since we don’t have a generic word for that. So we use “TGV” which means “Train à Grande Vitesse” (ie: Very Fast Train…)
Certains trains, les TGV (or “appelés TGV”), peuvent rouler à plus de 120miles à l’heure (I’d recommend to make the conversion)
Therefore: Certains trains, les TGV, peuvent rouler à plus de 193.1 kilomètre heure (km/h)
Which is not exactly true since TGV travels at 320km/h (200mph) most of the time, and established a record of a bit more than 500km/h (310mph)

    5) les trottoirs sont vraiment larges

    6) il y a une pyramide de verre devant le musée. (a “musée” is an art museum unless specified otherwise).
Of course, that would refer to the Louvre
You could also translate it : Une pyramide de verre se trouve devant le musée. You wouldn’t say it like that, but you might write it like that.
