Have you ever heard of the “Creation Museum”, and what do you think about its controversial existence?

Like the doubter, Thomas…I am a very wary believer.
After all, I was an atheist who read the Bible to prove it wrong in 1995 before becoming a child of God.
And this I confess as a negative thing, not a boast in particularly good quality that I have.
Reasonable skepticism is one thing, but doubting and denial is another.
BUT, this all being said…
I happened upon this the other day:

Regarding a “Creation Museum”.
It appears that some groups, like “DefCon” (so-called “Defenders of the Constitution”), have campaigns that are opposing the very existence of a “Creation Museum”:
http://ga3.org/campaign/creationmuseum
Personally, it is all a bit to surreal to me that groups like “DefCon” even exist…and oppose a *freaking* museum. (please excuse the French).
And along with movie Expelled, it smells too much like “Conspiracy Theory” kind of stuff, to me…
Oh…and here is an awesome movie trailer for the movie, Expelled, by the way:

You don’t want to miss it.
But in any event, I am traveling this weekend, and as it turns out, I will be staying within 10 minutes of this “Creation Museum”:

So, my questions are:
Have you ever been to the Creation Museum?
If so, what did you think?
Is it worth going to?
And, of course, are you a Creationist or a non-Creationist?
And did it change your mind in any way, shape, or form…about anything?

I did as you suggested…and must admit I cracked up after seeing the picture on the first search result (and is worth sharing):

Even still, though…I like the comment on comic book museums.
And being ever cautious, I refuse to be swayed either way - but will consider all sides of a debate. And I appreciate a good laugh regarding the “extremists” of all debates…at times.
But, we’ll see where I “end” up on this issue - may the Lord guide me, and us all, into the truth.
Of course, God did create the world.
But exactly how He did this, and how it all “works”…well…us “humans” are like monkeys trying to explain how a nuclear power plant was built and how it works.

Oh my…
Is this subtly poisonous, or just plain hysterical:

I think it’s funny. It’s given us a whole new section of humor. Google “Lolcreationists”
It’s not controversial, it’s ridiculous. Seeing Jesus on the back of a dinosaur helped me realize I still had some hope for creationists, and then it was gone.
I haven’t been to the museum, but a friend of mine did and she said it is well worth the visit.
I find it strange that those who claim to “defend the constitution” want to silence the freedom of speech, and the right of a person to open a museum. Even if they don’t agree with or believe anything in the museum, if they want to “defend the constitution” they should be willing to live and let live.
islam has its bombers and its sharia courts, christianity has its homophobes and its creationists.
i think a religion should be allowed to make itself look ridiculous, as long as that harm no-one else.
but i could never fund a creationist agenda by visiting such a museum, any more than i would donate to a charity run by hamas.
Well honestly I thought I was going to be escorted out of the place I was laughing so hard. Talk about dirty looks. But I couldn’t help it–the place is so ridiculus. The only thing I’ve ever seen that i laughed harder at was the christmas episode of South Park.
I can only say if you believe what the curators of the “creation Museum” are saying it must be hard to breath because your head is buried in the sand. It is pretty funny though.
Science, carbon dating, simple evidence from layers in the earth….common sense. The world was NOT created 6000 years ago, man did not have pet dinosaurs and evolution is real.
Maybe God is the creator and the energy behind all that is but he did not build it 6000 years ago for human beings to enjoy. Creation started infinity ago for everything that is and it is still being created moment by moment even now.
Human beings are arrogant…..did God create that too?
If you think that DefCon is against freedom of speech, then you didn’t follow the link posted in the question.
The petition there reads in part:
“As Americans we support our fellow citizen’s freedom of religion and freedom of speech, and as a private institution, AiG is free to deny the overwhelming evidence resulting from hundreds of years of scientific work.
We, however, oppose this nefarious campaign to institutionalize a lie. We urge AiG to cease their war on science and we call on educators, media, and citizens to exercise critical thinking and their own right and responsibility of free speech, and oppose AiG’s false claims wherever they are promoted.”
Seems to me DefCon is just exercising their free speech rights.
I have been to the Creation Museum. I thought it would be kind of hokey, but it wasn’t. It shows both the Creation, and what science teaches us. It is worth going to see, even if it is just to say you have been there.
I’m the dying breed. The Bible is the literal Word of God and God created it all in 6 literal days (24 hr day). God said there would be a great falling away and evolutionists have brought this about. The devil knows how to trick man better than man realizes. Do you remember all of the lies of evolution? All of the missing links that were frauds?
Bring on the Creation Museum! We need some truth in America!! God’s truth. We certainly can’t get truth from man.
God Bless these men who built the Creation Museum and who believe the Word of God to be truth.
Do you realize that everytime I saw a “Monkey to Man Chart” I wanted to throw up. That chart makes me sick to see it this very day. It is evil.
Let the Satan worshiping non-believers choke on the Creation Museum or let the Museum be a great witness to them.
It is spiritual warfare my friend and in the words of Joshua, choose you this day who you will serve - God or man. If you believe in God; then believe God created it all just like He said that He did.
Faith is taking God at His word. Read the KJV Bible. God is still on the throne and God is still capable of protecting His Word.
