Where should we move? HELP! In the next 3 years we will be moving away from college and need help!

distinguishedrelic asked:

Fact 1) I am an elementary educator focusing on social studies.
Fact 2) He is a high school educator focusing on foreign languages (French and Chinese)
Fact 3) I am in love with the East coast but not betrothed.
Fact 4) He is in love with the West coast but not betrothed.
Fact 5) We both hate heat
Fact 6) We both hate the Midwest (except, of course, for the UP of Michigan, the northern part of Wisconsin and Minneapolis, north.
Fact 7) We both love cities with culture and diversity to them
Fact 8) I need a university where I can pursue my PhD in Political Science (Party politics)
Fact 9) Did I mention we LOVE culture and museums?
Fact 10) We want to stay in the Continental United States.

How can we possibly come to an idea/conclusion of where to move, and, three years out from now will approach quicker than you think. Winning answer will hopefully contain links to resources for us or just over-all really good advice.

We’ve been talking about this for the last year and a half and are just, simply, stuck.

I’m young teen, where do I get art classes besides school?

krispenshell asked:

I’m 13 and I love art; painting, sketching, abstract, everything. But I don’t have enough room in my school schedule to fit in art, with French and Orchestra, and the required gym, all my encore periods are full!!! :-( So, I looked into the Lemon Street Gallery,a nd the museum by my house, but their classes are either for adults or little children. I guess my main questions is where do you suggest I look for early-teen-level art classes?

Am I a geek or am I a freak?

Kellie asked:

I am a grade A student.
I have taught myself calculus. I can differentiate a quadratic from first principles.
I can tell you the name, symbol, relative atomic mass and electron configuration of the first 32 elements.
I can design, program and build microcontroller based electronic systems.
I can set up a LAMP server on an empty hard drive via SSH.
I can fluently speak English, Irish, French, German and Spanish.
I can program in C++, PHP, Delphi and Perl.
I’m a wimp. I got my ears pierced last week and I cried.
I find school very boring. They go over the same things far too many times.
I spend most of my spare time in the library or in front of a computer.
Even my friends say I’m boring. They call me the turtle – they say I don’t come out of my shell.
I am a loner.
My idea of a social outing is a visit to a museum.
I go to church every week, of my own free will.
I have a morbid fascination about death.
My goal in life is to teach electronics/computing at a uni.
I am 13.
Hello Jorm,

This is the English Language site, so for the benefit of everyone here I suggest we use English. If you want a reply in Spanish, then email me.

I’m not going to do your homework for you, but I’ll give you a starting point.

Integrate by parts with u = (arcsin x)^2; substituting y = arcsin x.

get stuck? email for the solution.

¡Adios!

Unfortunately the Excel (.xls) file format is Microsoft proprietary. The easiest way would be to save your Excel spreadsheet as .csv then write or read it line by line.

Excel, PHP and Perl can all handle CSV pretty easily.

Depending on how much data there is to store and retrieve, and how much you would need to manipulate it, it would possibly be a good idea to read/write it straight to a MySQL database.

If you tell me whether you want PHP/Perl, I’ll do you a couple of samples tomorrow. Unfortunately, I’m knackered so I’m off to bed now.

Why isn’t France a friendly country?

Last Mohican asked:

I felt like a foreigner in France, although I speak French. There’s an eerie ambiance there. The people are very cynic and sarcastic. And why is Paris so overrated? Apart from the interesting museums, what does it have? It’s ugly.
Beauty-wise, Edinburgh and Stockholm are far more interesting. And Italians are friendlier than the arrogant French. Why does France get all the hype?

French activities to do in NYC?

KD asked:

Hi — I’m looking to take a small French class (eight kids) on a field trip to NYC. I was thinking of eating lunch at a cafe, such as Café Dante, but am having a hard time deciding what the other events of the day should be. We will most likely go up on a Saturday in the spring. Could anyone suggest some activities that revolve around French culture? Of course, it doesn’t necessarily have to be in French, just have some ties with the country. Cinema, plays, art museums…? Any help would be much appreciated!
